EXPLORING IN MONTENGRO!

EXPLORING IN MONTENGRO!

This is a much overdue post, but it’s never too late to share beauty. This summer I went back home to Kosovo for almost three weeks. During that time, my family and I went to Ulcinj, Montenegro for about 3 days. This place is home away from home. We always use to go every year as kids and as I got older and started travelling on my own, I wasn’t that fussed about it but this year I begged my parents to go just for a few days (the rest of my family had already all been on beach holidays at least twice). We spent two days tanning on our fave beach, Copacabana and on the last day before driving back to Kosovo; I asked if we could go explore for a few hours.

*For those that don’t know where Kosovo is, it is in the south east of Europe & we are Albanian but Kosovan Albanians, (there’s very slight differences). There are also Albanians in Montenegro especially in Ulcinj where we always go, hence why we love going there and why it is like a second home to us, as there are a lot of Montenegrin Albanians so there’s no language barrier.*

Anyway, I have more posts to come from Montenegro & from this day, but I didn’t want to overkill the post so here are just some pictures of us walking around & finding new places to take photos of! I’ll caption each one, so you know what is going on.

Montenegro essentially means Black Mountains, so of course there are a lot of mountains & as you can see here, everything is built on a little mountain.

This area is what we call “Te Pishat” it is a little secluded area with loads of trees. People go here to chill out & away from the beach. It is also known to help people with throat problems such as tonsillitis because of the clean air.

Caught taking pics! I love using my iPhone for pictures! A lot of people hate it, but it’s all about knowing how to use it best. *post pending*

This is something we bumped into by chance, I was looking over & down from a higher point and saw all these little caves, so of course I made everyone find a way to get down there as close as we could!

This is somewhere, we always visit. We call it “Te Kalaja e Ulqinit” I’m not sure what the translation would be in Montenegrin but in English it is basically just Ulcinj Castle. It is an ancient castle and neighbourhood in Ulcinj, Montenegro. Mostly inhabited by Albanians, it was built by the Illyrians on a small peninsula at the right side of the Rana Gulf, which is part of the Adriatic Sea.

How amazing is this!? I think this was somebody’s apartment. I’m pretty sure they rent it out to people for holidays because their terrace/entrance was just so gorgeous!

We found an AMAZING restaurant on our way passed the Castle. We weren’t even looking for this place, it was quite hidden away but we went in to have a look and take pictures of this view (& the next few pics) and then decided to sit down. Put it this way, my next post will be on this restaurant & their food.

I hope you enjoyed this post & I hope you learned a little something from it too! I hope to go there again in Summer 2016, I most likely 99.99% will haha!

I love exploring, I love just walking around & finding new places where there are no people. Sounds so anti-social but I mean it in the nicest way possible, I wanna see just the nature in it’s natural form, without any disturbances!
