NATURAL MAKE UP / ANNIE HOOD SHOOT
I posted a picture of a make up look I did on one of the models from the Annie Hood shoot the other day & it surprisingly got a lot of good feedback, so I thought it is the perfect excuse to do a new make up post! I love when my super natural looks get great feedback, it’s so refreshing as I’ve been trying to promote and preach these type of looks forever now and I love that it’s finally become a thing now, that a lot of you prefer!! All my favourite make up artists sport this type of natural make up, so I love that it’s becoming more popular on social media now!
I’m going to post each model’s make up looks, two pics of each & both will have a close up zoomed in picture so you can get a closer look at the details. All pics are taken in natural light with my iPhone and there has been absolutely NO editing, retouching or added filters to their faces/skin.
As the ANNIE HOOD collection for women feature some of the men’s pieces & has a chilled vibe to the clothing, we wanted to strip the make up back to achieve a sexy but totally effortless look.
Key Skin Products: After moisturising, I applied Dior Star foundation shade 031, MAC studio concealer NC20 to conceal under eyes, Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer in Nude to brighten under eyes (applied and blended with fingers for a natural look) – I didn’t set Sarina’s under eye as she had such flawless skin that I wanted her natural skin texture to show and glow, I didn’t want to cover it up. I used a LTD edition KIKO bronzer & then Anastasia Beverly Hills shade Fawn to contour down the bridge of her nose and ONLY the hollow of her cheekbone, not the whole cheek bone as she already has those gorgeous, high middle eastern cheek bones. Highlight was by Sleek Solstice palette, I used the bottom right peachy shade.
Eyes: Benefit Gimmie Brow to brush up the brows and give them a little bit of a tint, creating a bushy natural brow. Urban Decay NAKED palette, shades Naked and Buck softly applied and smudged just on her eyelid very close to her lash line and also on her bottom lash line. This was to create an almost ‘not wearing anything’ look, I wanted to create that subtle colour that a lot of us naturally have around our eyes. Keeping the look simple, minimal and realistic. Lashes were gently combed with a mascara, she had incredibly long and thick lashes so I barely even applied any!
Lips I used a Stila brown lip gloss.
Emma has all the same products as Sarina, however the foundation was different. I used No7 Stay Perfect Superlight Foundation – this is a very watery formula, perfect for evening out skin tone with very light coverage.
We also tried the same lipgloss as Sarina on Emma, however due to her much softer features yet stronger jaw & rounder face, the darker lipgloss kind of drowned her and washed out her complexion and features. So we opted for MAC Blankety lipstick, I lightly applied this with a brush. It instantly brought life back to her skin! She is absolutely gorgeous, with such cute brown eyes & hair!
This is a perfect example of how the same make up look can look different from person to person!
Montana has all the same skin products as Sarina. Exactly the same shades & everything. Only difference with Montana’s look is that we opted for a berry lip and clumpy mascara. No falsies as we wanted to stay away from looking glam. This lip colour brought out her honey coloured hair and eyes so much! It lifted and brightened her golden complexion!
As you can tell, all three girls have very natural looking brows, they’re not shaped to perfection; they’ve just been brushed up and left like that. I realise that isn’t every one’s cup of tea, however this is for a shoot and it’s a very popular look for fashion shoots. I love when I have to do natural looks, all the girls still look the same, just a little enhanced! Embracing their natural beauty at its finest!
Hope you guys enjoyed.
